1902 David H. Moffat begins construction of Moffat Railroad over the Continental Divide.
1906 United States Mint, Denver, issues first coins. National Western Stock Show is born.
1908 Dome of the State Capitol is plated with gold leaf at a cost of $14,680.
1910 First long distance phone call made from Denver to New York City and first airplane flight in Denver.
1911 Colorado National Monument west of Grand Junction created.
1913 State begins licensing autos for the first time.
1915 Rocky Mountain National Park created. Construction of Broadmoor Hotel begins.
1916 Colorado adopts prohibition.
1917 William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody dies and is buried on Lookout Mountain.
1918 Fitzsimmons General Hospital established near Denver.
1921 Colorado begins building concrete highways on main traveled routes.
1922 First commercial radio license in Colorado is issued.
1923 Oil discovered in Wellington field north of Fort Collins.
